A Classic Education singer Jonathan Clancy has turned his solo project, His Clancyness, into an actual band and their new album (recorded in Detroit), Vicious, will be released October 8 via FatCat. Where ACE are more on baroque side of things, His Clancyness fall into noisier indie rock territory, though Clancy’s melodic ways are still front-and-center. You can check out the driving, boderline-manic “Zenith Diamond” and watch a teaser video for the LP in this post.
If you pre-order the album through Insound, you’ll get a specially made fanzine that folds out into a poster and features contributions by Women, Okkervil River, Veronica Falls, The Fresh & Onlys, Sonny & The Sunsets, Tim Cohen, Cloud Nothings, and many others.
